Gilbert is currently the head of secretariat at Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) in Uganda. In the past he has worked for the ILO as a country programme coordinator among other activities. AFIC was founded following a declaration agreed to in 2006 by 30 civil society representatives from 16 African countries. Gilbert represents the Civil Society and brings experience and expertise in promoting the right of access to information through comparative research, regional advocacy and capacity building. He sits on the MSG as a Member and Host Organization for CoST Uganda.
